From Prosperity to Real Relationships

Malawi, Africa

My name is Rev. Rodgers Penjani Gondwe, serving with the Malawi Assemblies of God. I’ve been in ministry since 2013 and am blessed to be married. Currently, I’m under natural discipleship, mentored by Pastor Ann Kunje.

From the time I began going through the handbook and sharing my experiences with my mentor I have appreciated the course. As much as I know a lot about the Bible. There is a lot still to be desired. I feel this is one of several missing jigsaw pieces to the full presentation of the gospel.

Having a Pentecostal background, I see our flaws in that we do not establish a one on one consistent and comprehensive discipleship program. This is crucial. Jesus top command is for us to make disciples. This course is more than just knocking on someone's door and saying "Hey, do you know about Jesus?" Which may sound like a shot to the head. This program lets you sit down and think things through, and study. It's something between bible study and witnessing. There is room for questions.

Personally, I have struggled with hang-ups and addictions even as a pastor. And I'm glad this tool fell in my hands. It will not only help myself but many others to overcome these life problems.

The illusion of the prosperity gospel is strongly undressed in this course. I give it a thumbs up.

This is what we should have been doing all along. I will make sure to stick to it. I love the flexibility and indeed that's why it is called natural discipleship.

May the kingdom of God expand and the light of Jesus shine as we keep sharpening each other with the Word of God.
