New Life in Christ in Tanzania

One of the most beautiful things we ever get to witness is a person saying "yes" to Jesus.

Not because they've reached a finish line.
Not because they've become perfect.
But because they've encountered the One who gave His life for them and now they're choosing to walk with Him.

On June 28, 2026, our brother Seleman Kisandu and the church in Tanzania celebrated a day of great joy as 10 people publicly declared their faith in Jesus through baptism. Surrounded by family, friends, and their church community, each one stepped into the water as a testimony of God's transforming grace.

It was a simple but deeply meaningful gathering, filled with worship, prayer, and thanksgiving. Yet what made the day so significant wasn't the ceremony itself, it was the reality it pointed to: Jesus is still drawing people to Himself.

Baptism isn't about proving our devotion to God. It is our response to what He has already done for us. It is an outward expression of an inward reality, that through faith we have been united with Christ in His death and resurrection.

Paul writes, "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead... we too might walk in newness of life." Romans 6:4 (ESV)

That is the heart of discipleship.

Not trying harder to become someone different.
Receiving the life of Christ that has already been given to us.

Every person who stepped into the water that day was declaring, "My old life no longer defines me. My life is now hidden with Christ."

As we celebrate with these new brothers and sisters, we're reminded that Jesus is still building His Church, not primarily through programs or platforms, but through transformed lives. One conversation. One relationship. One surrendered heart at a time.

We are especially encouraged that these baptisms are not viewed as the end of the journey, but the beginning. Seleman is now walking with these new believers through the Nine Steps of Discipleship, helping them learn what it means to abide in Christ, hear His voice, and allow His life to be formed in them day by day.

Would you join us in praying for them?

Pray that these new disciples would become deeply rooted in Christ and continue growing in the grace and knowledge of Him. Pray for Seleman and the church in Tanzania as they faithfully invest in people, making disciples who, in turn, will make disciples.

May these baptisms remind all of us that the invitation of Jesus remains the same: "Abide in Me, and I in you." John 15:4 (ESV)

Because the Christian life has never been about becoming better at religion.

It has always been about sharing the life of Christ.
