Thanksgiving more than holiday

Orlando FL

As Thanksgiving approaches, We want to take a moment to reflect with you on the incredible opportunities this week offers us—not just to enjoy good food and company, but to lead and love our families, friends, and communities in a way that reflects the heart of Jesus.

Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it’s a time to pause, give thanks, and remember. This sacred tradition traces its roots back to the early Pilgrims who, despite hardship and loss, set aside time to honor God for His provision and blessings. Their gratitude was not born out of abundance but from a deep trust in the One who provides in every season.

As we gather with loved ones this week, let’s remember the foundation of this celebration: giving thanks to our Creator and Sustainer, who has blessed us in more ways than we can count. Let’s also remember the purpose—an opportunity to testify to His goodness in our lives through our words and actions.

Jesus modeled what it means to lead with humility, love, and grace. He was patient with those who stumbled, present with those who were hurting, and bold in speaking truth in love. This week, as we interact with family and friends, I encourage you to do the same:

  • Be intentional about the conversations you have. Look for opportunities to encourage and speak life into others.
  • Lead by serving—whether that’s helping in the kitchen, listening to someone’s story, or showing kindness in the little things.
  • Model gratitude, not just in words but in your demeanor, as a reflection of God’s work in your heart.

Let this week be a powerful reminder that when we live out our faith authentically, we point others to the Savior who transforms lives.

Our prayer is that this Thanksgiving will be filled with joy, meaningful moments, and a renewed sense of purpose as you lead your families and friends with the heart of Jesus.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving,

Bob Schoneman
